Contaminates
What is arsenic?
+ Arsenic is a semi-metal element in the periodic table.
+ It is odorless and tasteless.

How does arsenic get into my drinking water?
+ It occurs naturally in the environment and is a by-product of some agricultural and industrial activities,
+ it can enter drinking water through the ground or as runoff into surface water sources.
+ Water is a universal solvent and suspends the arsenic in it easily.

Health effects:
+ Human exposure to arsenic can cause both short and long term health effects.
+ Long term exposure to arsenic has been linked to cancer of the bladder, lungs, skin, kidneys, nasal passages, liver and prostate.

Is my well at risk?
+ It is up to the well owner to test for arsenic.
+ It is best to ask your local health department about your area
