Water System Cold Weather Tips

Ways to reduce the risk of your water system freezing...

* Leave your faucets trickling to circulate the water.

* Put heat tape on all your plumbing.

* Add a contained light bulb inside a pump house.

* Put a cardboard box and plastic tarp around pipes to prevent heat loss.

* Place a container around the well.

* Remember, a system is only as good as it's weakest link.

If your system freezes....

**one way to unthaw it is to carefully apply hot, wet towels and lights to where you suspect the freezing is taking place.

** Warning: Don't use a propane torch. It can melt the plastic around the water system.
